JENAL & The Helpfull Organisation

The DBA (Barge Association) are a wealth of helpful & useful information.

We joined DBA in 2001 with the sole purpose of using it to research our barge idea to see if it was feasible. We also wanted to find out what it would be like living afloat in Europe, what are the regulations etc.

Any member who came within 3 feet of us was lambasted by our constant stream of barge questions.

The net result has been, we now know enough about Dutch barges to 'bore-for-Britain'.

Also, we can now design & build JENAL and make less mistakes in her build than we might otherwise. In the process, we have met and made some close and lovely friends.

The DBA - The Barge Association is a British based body and was formed in 1992 for all those interested in ex-commercial barges or any other type of broad-beam inland waterways craft.

It is open to everybody, with or without a boat or barge and who is (or would like to be) living in, cruising in, converting, or just relaxing aboard such vessels.

The DBA is a not-for-profit limited company formed in 1992 and run by volunteers.
