This particular area gave 'J&A' quite a bit of
head scratching and searching to find a suitable item of art to sit inside
the curved wall. A piece that had a visual connection with the design of
the ship (shinny silver metal) and vegetation that spoke of waterside
vegetation (weeping willow). It is now affectionately known by 'J&A' as the
Triffid. You would have to be a BBC TV Si-Fi (The Day of the Triffids)
watcher in the early '50's to understand why this name!
The other design criteria was one of
stability, it needed a largish base to stay upright in potential waterways
rocking-n-rolling. The Sapele wooden worktop is excellent with its sun-ray
like grain pointing towards the galley centre.
