Barges traditionally had wood burning stoves
where fire-wood storage space was not so much a problem on these working
ships. For Jenal it was, so 'J&A' chose this traditional cast-iron Esse
fire, originally found on working boats and even railway station waiting
rooms, fired with coal or coke.
Essa followed the changes in time and re-made
their fires with electrical convection heating. Jenal's example
sits on an old peanut-shaped and rescued cast-iron base. Originally there
to catch falling fire ash, now for catching dust and the electric fires
glow from its pretend fire bulb.
