CONSTRUCTION INFORMATION - story page number fourteen
Benelli 6 cylinder engines are only air-cooled and susceptible to overheating, not so much from high speed touring but more from traffic congestion where limited amounts of air pass over the engine. An external oil cooler is the answer. Alan turned to HEL Performance for one of their 16 row half oil rads and Mocal for their oil cooler take off, oil thermostat and all the Aeroquip hoses. The Mocal sandwich plate sits behind the Benelli oil filter housing where the exhaust pipes make for a tight placement. The oil cooler plumbing travels underneath and to the back of the engine, through a Mocal oil thermostat and back over the top of the engine to the front mounted radiator.
