Alan nicknamed Ament's engineer Richard; 'Starman' when he was placing one of JENAL's final external touches to the craft, a gold star to each side of the bow. This is a traditional touch and was used in days-gone-by to illustrate to fellow bargees that the stared barge was fully paid for and the owner had no outstanding mortgage.

You can understand why such a great occasion was good to advertise plus it would have had the added benefit of advertising his financial security to potential new customers.

In hindsight, one wonders why such a small adornment took Richard Jen Ament & Alan so long to place it in the exact position!

To the left of the JENAL name is Alan's scroll work, equally, it took hours and hours of CAD work for him to design and just minutes for the sign maker to computer cut it out in vinyl.

The anchors have protective covers over their tips to prevent an errant work bashing them against the hull as it fully paint cures.
