A trip to Hydrosta to solve the generator problem revealed the Duodrive system was not working as quietly as it should. It eventually seized as we approached Hydrosta's waterside factory. Thank goodness it happened when and where it did because Hydrosta  were able establish why we had this repeated problem. It transpired that Ament had mounted the hydraulic prop drive motor 3.5mm vertically and 4.5 horizontally out of line with the Duodrive system. Placing an intolerable bias on the drive line.

 

What makes this situation worse is the fact that the previous January both Ament and Duodrive had reinstalled the Duodrive system and had supposedly checked the alignment. Both companies are to blame but no one puts their hand up which is the downside of dealing with small organisations.
