What Hydrosta's engineers found when they checked the seized and Hydrosta repaired Duodrive, was the lack of vertical and horizontal adjustment for the Hydrosta hydraulic motor, originally installed by Ament Metaalbewerking. Jenal was temporarily dry-docked to enable the 3 water seals on the Duodrive shaft to be replaced, once again (replaced in last January) - damaged by the bias loads placed upon them by the incorrect alignment.

Fortunately Duodrive had supplied Jenal with a device constructed for 450bhp well over Jenal's 220bhp capacity consequently the bias load seizure caused some small alloy casing pick-up and was easily resolved. The rest was perfect and a credit to Grahams design

The steel blocks you can see in the top right hand corner picture are adjusters for the hydraulic motor - all 35okg of it. Hydrosta being the professionals they are, made the mounts and then proceeded to dial-gauge align the system. Why didn't Ament the ship builder do this in the first-place?

A year later and regular sailing usage has proven all is now well.
